Today Ellen Degeners announced that she will not be returning to judge American Idol although one has to wonder if she decided on her own to leave the very lucrative and very easy job. Her first and only season was marked by lackluster judging skills and coming across as the ultimate decider on who would take Simon Cowell’s place. When rumors were floated that Howard Stern would be tapped for the job, she was very outspoken opposing that and said she and the producers would sit down to decide the replacement.
